Simit ( Turkish cookies with croissants)

I learnt this recipe from Tullay from the Turkish Cooking Class. It was a great cooking class! I learnt a lot. I LOVE IT! ( the class..and the cookies 🙂 )

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup yoghurt
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1 stick butter ( in room temperature)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp vinegar
  • sesame seeds

  1. Put the flour in a large bowl and make a hole in the middle. Into this hole pour all the ingredients and egg yolk ( keep the egg white for the sesame seeds). Stirring from the outside into the middle gradually mix all the liquids into the flour until it forms into a dough.
  2. Shape the dough into rings and dip the rings egg white first and then sesame seeds. After arranging them on  a baking sheet,  bake them in a 350 degree oven for approx. 20-30 minutes.
